catching up

This weekend I got to see two of my best friends in the whole wide world, this never happens, I blame myself and the couch.

Meet Vanja:

She likes team sports, the outdoors, traveling and white wine.
She dislikes avo, dogs that lick too much and when her phone gets wet

We met in 2006 and I didn't like her. I didn't like new people much. I also didn't like that she was one of my then boyfriends best friends, no, just no. But then she wiggled into my heart and I decided to take a permanent spot on her bedroom floor and drink all of her juice.

We have been on road trips, recorded videos of me eating like a monkey, I bet that she would never shave her head and if she did I would take her to lunch (we were broke and unimaginative).... she then went and shaved her head and I didn't take her for lunch.
She used to listen to my endless stories of heartache, I used to listen to her advice and then do the exact opposite of what she said, she made me try sushi, I still don't eat sushi, her voice gets louder and louder the more alcohol involved, my laugh gets uglier and uglier, she is one of the smartest people I know even though she drops her phone in the pool, she painted herself blue for my 21st and we might not see each other as often as we used to, but I love this blue bugger!

(This is us under a blanket, I am pretty sure I was asleep in this photo)

Meet Gareth:

He likes photography, food baskets from Mama's, smashing drums, believing in aliens, and paying me back.
He dislikes fighting, when people are assholes, alien non-believers, chicken wings and when his car battery dies.

I met Gary in 2007, when playing garden cricket every Sunday at emmerentia was the thing to do. Unlike Vanja he got a fair chance and I liked him before he even said a word.

We have been on epic holidays, had many heart to hearts, been on photo missions, I called him Garthy for years until I realised everyone else actually called him Gary, this may have been Vanjas fault, he has some mad skills and his ideas are always great ones, if you hear Gary chuckle you will never forget it, its a pretty great chuckle. I call him "Face", his drumming face is the best face though, if you don't know this guy, you should.
I don't see this guy enough, but when I do there is always a running jump hug involved, sometimes even a dance.

EDIT: I feel like I need to add that Gary once drank 24 tequilas for his 24th birthday... by the end of the night we were holding his pants up.

These guys, a round of applause please.

(I love how all of these photos are so normal... I swear these past 7 years have not been captured correctly)
